FAIRFIELD APARTMENT

Interior refurbishment to an existing apartment building. Design and Construction Documentation by Simon Dinh Architects.

A thoughtful reimagining of a 1970s apartment brings new life to a compact 35sqm space, enhancing its solar quality while respecting the constraints of its existing envelope. Custom-designed joinery maximises functionality without compromising on style.

Working closely with our client, we ensured that every functional household item could be neatly tucked away, eliminating visual clutter and expanding the perception of space. Carefully chosen objects are displayed strategically, cultivating a sense of calm and sanctuary amidst the vibrant pulse of city life.

A simple palette made a tight budget achievable, and allowed our client’s personality to shine through via their vibrantly fun furniture and art collection. Inspired by the architectural concept of "prospect and refuge," the bathroom design balances openness with intimacy, cultivating a serene retreat for moments of pause and renewal. Minimalist yet inviting, the space evokes the refined tranquility of a luxury hotel—an environment meticulously crafted to encourage a slower, more intentional approach to self-care.

At the heart of this project was a desire to create a multifunctional environment that was as beautiful as it was practical. Our client was thrilled to find that incorporating a dedicated home office within the living area didn’t mean sacrificing aesthetics—proof that functionality and design can truly coexist.
